Almost since beginning of My Adventures with Google Maps, I was drawn to doing the cemeteries in whatever area I was in. Many of them are not on Maps or they have wrong information, etc.etc. So I think it’s important as more and more people depend of Maps to find things, that the listings be accurate. Plus there some very unique cemeteries and gravestones here in Maine, probably, everywhere but right now I’m focusing on Maine.
A couple months ago, I started paying attention to the Veteran Memorial Honor Rolls, sometimes they are inside cemeteries but more and more of them are in their own park-like location. Here are a couple I added in my area: The Macwahoc Veterans Honor Roll is located in the Houlton Road (Route 2), right across the road from the Cemetery. The Mattawamkeag Veterans Honor Roll is also on Route 2, right by the bridge over the Mattawamkeag River. The Winn Veterans Honor Roll Is also on Route 2 (On Google, it’s called the Military Road.) For more info, just click on the links on the names above. I am going to continue to add the Honor Rolls as I find missing ones all over the state. One thing I am disappointed in, is that is no website that lists all Veterans Honor Rolls in Maine, both created ones and pending (They’re some new ones going up all the time). At least, I have never been able to find one. If anyone has any information about such a website, please let me know. Thank-you and a BIG Thank-you to everyone who has served and fought for this country’s freedom.
