Built in 1903, by the Armour Company, the building was originally built and used for a Meat Packing Operation. Armour who ended up venturing into different areas, including Pharmaceuticals and Soap (they invented Dial Brand), did not have a good track record when it came to employee's work conditions and rights.
Today, the building is home to dozens of small to medium businesses. Industries like Telecom, Mortgage, Insurance, hair stylist and skidder tires to name a few. As I mentioned in the My Adventures with Google Maps Blog, I am working on all the businesses and plan doing a review for each one them. Some I’m working on: Caleidoscope Solutions, Backbay Capital, skiddertires.org, Horace Mann and many more. I am also researching the building itself, including the company, Armour, that originally built this interesting building. More to Come!
